and Social Committee (Europees
Turkish-German Chamber of Commerce and
Industry (TD-IHK) General Assembly and 10th
Anniversary Dinner was held at the Turkish Embassy in
Berlin, Germany, with the attendances of EU Minister
Volkan Bozkır, TOBB Board Vice President Çetin Osman
Budak, various chamber/exchange presidents from
Turkey, representatives of the Turkish and German
governments as well as business people.
TOBB Board Vice President Çetin Osman Budak
stated in his speech that TD-IHK has acted as a bridge
between the two countries for the last 10 years. Budak
also touched on the importance of Turkey’s European
Union membership as well as the unfair visa treatments
encountered by Turkish business people.
Assessments
are being made
which report
to the advent
of a new era for
relations between
Turkey and the
EU in 2014.
Those making
these assessments and hopeful for a revitalization of
relations with the EU point to recent developments
in Turkey and the EU. These developments – the
presidential election and the formation of the
cabinet of ministers in Turkey; European Parliament
elections and the changing of many offices such as EU
Presidency, European Commission Presidency and EU
Foreign Relations and Security Policy Agency. Many
members of the European Parliament and the
European Commission have also been replaced.
2014 is significant for the possibilities offered for
Turkey’s EU membership process in regards to the EU
expansion policy.

Training Program was held
at the TOBB Union Center.
The meetings which began on
June 15th, 2014 at TOBB were
continued at Turkey Economic
Policy Research Foundation
(TEPAV) and the TOBB University
of Economy and Technology
(TOBB ETU) between the 16th
and 18th of June.
Speaking during the opening
of the Academic Consultants
Training Program, TOBB
President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu
stated that academicians shoulder
an important duty and stressed
the importance of the bridge
between universities and the
industry. Hisarcıklıoğlu urged
academicians to aid their local
chamber and exchange presidents
in forming roadmaps, to support
them in formulating solutions to
problems and focus on the issue of
employment generation together.
