The Union of Chambers and
Commodity Exchanges of Turkey
(TOBB), in collaboration with the US
Chamber of Commerce, opened the
US Chamber Regional Office with
the signing of the TOBB-US Chamber
of Commerce Cooperation Protocol.
Attending the ceremony held at the
TOBB İstanbul Service Building were
Development Minister Cevdet Yılmaz,
TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu,
US Chamber of Commerce Vice President
in Charge of International Affairs Myron
Brilliant, US Consul to İstanbul Chuck
Hunter and US Chamber of Commerce
Turkey, Middle East and North Africa
Vice President Khush Choksy.
Speaking at the ceremony, TOBB
President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated
that their goal is to improve the financial
aspect of the model partnership put
forth by Turkish and US leaders. He
pointed out that the US Chamber of
Commerce Office will also extend
its service sphere to include other
countries in the region, not just Turkey.
Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “This office is the
second Regional Office the US Chamber
of Commerce has opened following
the one Brussels. This by itself is an
indication of how important US-Turkey
relations on company level are viewed in
the near future.

Aware of the developing e-commerce
throughout the world, the think tank of
the Union of Chambers and Commodity
Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB),
Turkey Economic Policy Research
Foundation (TEPAV) is holding a light
to way to grow Turkey’s economy with
e-commerce, illustrated by their research
conducted in in cooperation with PayPal,
“e-commerce in Turkey: Opportunities
and Problems”. In addition to this, the “I
win; Turkey wins” e-commerce campaign
on PayPal aims to draw in thousands of
new merchants to join the successful
Turkish companies and entrepreneurs
marketing their goods internationally.
